We all know being active is good for us, but sometimes fitting it into our lives feels impossible. This month’s theme is being active, so I am here to give you a nudge and inspire you to find ways to move your body (involving your mind and soul, too) and feel fantastic!

Find what fires you up!

Forget forcing yourself on the treadmill if you hate running. There are endless ways to be active. Maybe you love dancing in your living room, hiking with friends, or playing pick-up soccer. The key is to find something you enjoy and that at the same time brings you some benefits. That way, being active becomes less of a chore and more like a useful, enjoyable, and effective exercise.

Small steps, big results!

Don’t feel pressured to jump into intense workouts. Start small and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your activities. According to the most recent medical research, even a brisk 10-minute walk is a great way to get started, without becoming too demanding if you are not fit, at the moment. One of the most effective strategies here is to think about incorporating movement into your daily routine. Easy, excellent ways to start are, just to give you some ideas, to take the stairs instead of the elevator, park further away from your destination, or do some stretches during commercial breaks while working at your PC, navigating the internet, or even watching TV.

Be active alone or with a buddy!

As our goal is exercising while enjoying the process, we can do it alone, if we prefer it, or with a friend, a family member, or other buddies. Exercising is known as a motivation booster itself and you can make it more fun by designing your training or active time the way you most like them.
Remember that the only person you are accountable to is you!

Benefits beyond the body

Being active is obviously not just about physical health. It will also improve your mood, reduce stress, and boost your energy levels.
Being active and doing your exercises with the full awareness of your mind and the involvement of your soul will multiply its positive effects, starting a holistic process of growth and improved well-being.
So, the next time you’re feeling sluggish, try getting your entire being involved in your moving and being active. You will touch with your hands how much better you feel!

Ready to get started? Here are some ideas to get you moving:

  • Practice a holistic discipline, like MMQG, Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan or similar
  • Take a class on anything that makes you feel better, engaged, and happy!
  • Join a local sports team or a gym
  • Go for a hike or a bike ride
  • Explore your neighbourhood on foot (you could also bring your camera with you, and take awesome pictures!)

Remember, the most important thing is to find enjoyable ways to keep your body, mind, and soul active!
